honest. candid. sentimental. loyal. indefatigable.

I’m Megan - I'm a bit of a hot mess. I’m awkward, but hilarious, and I swear too much. I love the outdoors, trying my hand at homesteading, devouring books, making art with photography, crafting, and raising animals.

I believe kiddos should grow up like Wild Thornberrys-muddy and glorious, barefoot and free.

You can often find me with my nose buried in the ruff on one of my dogs, breathing in their dusty, sun drenched smell and trying to cement it in my memory. I maaaaay do that with my kiddo too, although he usually smells like outdoors, ketchup, and curiosity.

I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. That’s okay, I don’t even like tea. I’m more of a “this cup of sugar is disguised as caffeine,” drinker.

I have an old lady soul that just wants to sit and crochet, read, and binge Outlander.

I’m loud, but introverted. I have very strong opinions, and I voice them - regularly. Moss and old stones make me happy.
I love tattoos, and spend way too much time planning each one. Seriously, it’s a problem.

I am slightly obsessed with Highland cows, and all things Scotland. I have great aspirations to learn Gaelic, but the language books are getting dusty on my bookshelf. Then again, everything in my house is dusty. I hate dusting.

I’m sappy, and nostalgic - fiercely loyal, and compassionate. My family photos are my most prized possessions, and serve as physical manifestations of my memories, and my history. I hope to be able to provide that ongoing insight and history to you, and your family.

What I want you to walk away feeling…

Megan-birth-photographer-wearing-red-dress-and-holding-camera-dirt-road-pennsylvania

I want you to feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered. Birth is unpredictable, and doesn’t always go according to our plans or hopes, but that doesn’t have to mean you have to walk this path alone . I want you to feel empowered during your birth - to feel confidant in advocating for your choices for your birth, and to know that I’ve got your back.

I take birth seriously, and am beyond honored to support and document these amazing journeys - I’d love to join you on yours - capturing time for you, so you can travel back and breathe in these moments again and again.

I’m stoked to work with you!

My “outside” birth personality is a bit bigger than my “at a birth” personality, and I am 100% respectful of the birth space, and adept at reading the room and the energy to see what would or wouldn’t be appreciated.

I’ve been called the “birth ninja” by clients - had countless reviews that commended my quiet and calming presence during a birth, and my ability to inspire confidence to allow my clients the space and empowerment to advocate for themselves and their birth.

I am a certified full spectrum doula through Birthing Advocacy, a certified birth and bereavement doula with Stillbirthday, and a certified birth photographer through Birth Becomes You, an internationally recognized photography and advocacy organization. I am passionate about providing the best service to my clients, and continuing my lifelong education.

Why Birth Photography?

Photography has been one of the constants in my life from as far back as I can remember. I grew up watching my dad document life for our family - I watched years worth of family movies around the holidays every year and flipped through family photo albums, breathing in the history, stories, and memories they helped form and bring to the surface. I always had a camera close at hand, and often helped my dad photograph family weddings and events.

Birth photography came on my radar as an adult - the honest, open, raw nature of it drew me in and wouldn’t let go, and after I experienced a miscarriage, and later, the birth of my son, I felt it calling to me even more strongly.

The pandemic, as awful as it was (and continues to be for many) - held a silver lining for me, as after I was let go from my full time job, I made the leap to finally follow my dream and officially start my photography business. I enrolled in Birth Becomes You Essence of Birth course, and the doula certifications quickly followed. Starting a business during the pandemic wasn’t easy, especially when it involved documenting an intimate event such as birth, but I had never before been pulled so strongly towards a goal - and now, years later, am completely grateful, and absolutely positive I am where I need to be in this moment.

Documenting birth, loss, joy, sadness - the complete range of human emotions and experiences - and using my art to spread awareness, normalize the human experience, and show the beauty and blood - it’s an honor I don’t take lightly and hope to continue for a long while.
